BRIEF HISTORY:
The A-10 Thunderbolt II was developed specifically for close air support, with the first production A-10A delivered in 1975. Known for low-speed maneuverability, long loiter capability, survivability, and its distinctive 30 mm GAU-8/A seven-barrel cannon, the aircraft became widely known by the nickname “Warthog.” The upgraded A-10C reached initial operational capability in 2007.
